Process Debt

Process Debt. It’s the unintentional consequence of trying to reach a CMMI Maturity Level without reaching for greatness.  Process Debt crushes your engineers, damages creativity, and destroys any productivity gains you were hoping for.

You’ve seen it. Too many forms, meetings, reviews, and sign-offs. Heavy handed quality audits and too much oversight.  So much weight that your engineers can barely deliver a product.

The CMMI is about supercharging engineering performance, increasing productivity, reducing risk, and doing what you do, better.

The CMMI is not about certificates, plaques, and ratings.  It’s not a test you need to pass. Creating documents and processes to satisfy some appraiser just adds to the Process Debt, making it even worse.
