CMMI And Agile Training
Want to learn how to use the CMMI and Agile to make software and engineering performance even better?
Broadsword’s award-winning training offerings are unique to the industry. We offer many of the CMMI Institute Authorized courses including “Introduction to CMMI,” “CMMI Maturity Level Two for Practitioners,” and “SCAMPI Appraisal Team Training.” But that’s just the beginning.
We offer a host of training, mentoring, and webinar programs customized to meet your specific needs. Some are the very same courses you might take at the CMMI Institute, and many more, like our “Agile Scrum Learning Experience, are Broadsword originals.
The SEI even awarded us the “SEI Member Award for Outstanding Representative” for our work in helping others learn about the CMMI and agile.
CMMI Training – What to Expect
In the Introduction to CMMI training class, you’ll learn everything about CMMI for product development, or CMMI-DEV. The CMMI for Product Development is one of three versions of the CMMI, including CMMI for Development, CMMI for Acquisition, and CMMI for Services. We’re going to talk about the CMMI for Development class today.
The Introduction to CMMI class is a three-day learning event that we teach in places like Washington, DC, Knoxville, Tennessee, San Diego, California, Detroit, Michigan, New York, NY, and many other cities around North America. The CMMI class is recommended for software engineers, software developers, project managers, business analysts and line managers to learn how software project management works, and how to improve the performance of your software or engineering organization. It’s also a required class if you intend to participate in a SCAMPI appraisal team or if you wish to become a CMMI Lead Appraiser, like I am.
There are three primary sections of the CMMI training class. First, we present the basic overall approach to software process improvement and engineering process improvement. Then, we spend time on process architecture, and finally, we help you learn about the various process areas, and how they fit into your organization.
Our CMMI classes are different from some of the other CMMI training classes you might see out in the community. We infuse agile concepts into our CMMI training classes. Instead of some of the standard exercises, we include things like how to play Planning Poker, how to use Fibonacci sequencing for your estimates, how to do Agile program planning, how to performance retrospectives, and many of the hands-on ceremonies and activities you’ll want to learn in order to participate in today’s software programs using Scrum, Kanban or other agile methods.
Introduction to CMMI training classes are presented quarterly, with our next CMMI class to be presented on August 14th in Knoxville, TN.
Hope to see you there!
