The competencies it takes to become a great musician also apply to project teams, projects and software development. Exactly the same competencies apply!
Musicians have known about these competencies for over 500 years. They’ve built in structures that enable them to perform at a high level of competency across an orchestra, in a way that we’ve never been able to figure out in the technology business that we’re all in.
How do we go from something AWFUL (as a musician or developer), to something that a proud father might describe as, “nice,” to being the cream of the crop, the Microsofts, Googles and Apples of the world … like the greatest musicians?
We can take our teams through this transition by applying the same competencies that my father taught me and that musicians have known for 500 years!
